Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or other direct message as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details each time a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring website, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show which pages attract visits and where visitors leave. Analytics services combine that traffic information into broader reports. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Diagnosing and repairing technical problems
- Measuring which pages are useful and where improvements are needed
- Operating the site and maintaining its speed
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Rich County Criminal History does not keep, build, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Rich County Sheriff, Utah courts, the Utah Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Identification, and the Utah Sex and Kidnap Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes. Data submitted to one of those tools is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its retention and disclosure practices. Read the partner's terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court systems, Utah agencies, legal resources, or external search services. After leaving this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through the provider's systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data can be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on the pages
- Search providers that process a query submitted to their tool
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied information, we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide further rights over personal data. Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act, Title 63G Chapter 2 governs Utah government records, while Utah Code §53-10-108 restricts state criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. At a minimum, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data we hold
- Ask for correction of inaccurate information
- Request a copy of personal data maintained about you
- Opt out of certain processing where applicable law provides that choice
